BECAUSE OF MS Windows 10, I had to purchase a new $200 Epson Scanner with associated software in 2016. My previous Epson Scanner was not very old, but was unsupported by Windows 10. Just this week, after processing only 12 camera pictures with ArcSoft PhotoStudio (came with scanner), the application locks up, gives a MICROSOFT ERROR MESSAGE, and shuts down!! You people at Microsoft must be UNDER A SIEGE OF LAWSUITS from other crazy issues with Windows 10 (Worst operating system in over 20 years)!!
BUT NOW THIS TOO??? ***Post moved by the moderator to the appropriate forum category.***. Why did you buy a Scanner? I have an Epson X-620 printer that has a scanner and working fine after reinstalling the software.
Your problem is not Windows 10 but with ArcSoft of not having updated their drives. Give them some time. You have not given all of the proper information needed.
Ie PC, Laptop, Tablet, Surface. OS type, Home, Pro, Executive, etc 3. Current build. Go Settings, System.
OS build XXXXXX.XXX 4. Where is this happening on the computer, Boot, Screen, App, etc 5.
What error are you getting if any? ----------- Around computers since 1952 lacrumb. My previous Epson Scanner was not very old, but was unsupported by Windows 10. Wrong: It was unsupported by Epson on Windows 10.
This has been explained over and over in this forum and elsewhere. Microsoft does not have the proprietary knowledge of other companies' products that's needed to write a driver. And even if Microsoft did, somehow, come across the proprietary knowledge needed to write a driver, that knowledge is the company's intellectual property that Microsoft has no legal right to use. Hardware manufacturers (and software developers) choose whether they will support their products on Windows 10. Microsoft doesn't make that choice.
You can be sure that if it were up to Microsoft, every device under the sun would run on Windows 10. So send your diatribe to Epson. _____________________________________________________ Just a regular guy, with no fancy titles or boasts. Printer's, and I assume Scanner's, mfgrs. Have newer drivers available by the time consumer purchases the devices. Go to Epson and type in model no.
Of your scanner and check for updated drivers. FYI, however, you would need to uninstall the current Epson scanner program, which may remove that Photo Studio program. There are other good programs you can download free. ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- -------- Please let us know if your problem was resolved. It'd be much appreciated. As far as I can tell The latest version of ArcSoft PhotoStudio is 6.0.1.161, released on and apparently is no longer being supported by the software programs creator/ publisher. As far as your Epson device goes if their support site (first choice) does not have any updates available for compatibility with the Win 10 OS you can check the Arcsoft support site (second choice) at the link below.
Or to choose manually: (Do note that it is the responsibility of the developer(s) of 3rd party programs to develop, and consequently update as need be, their products to perform properly and to be compatible with any given operating system at any given point in time, in fact proper system security depends on it). Hope this helps, -Richard. The ArcSoft Photostudio has worked fine for over 1 year now, so an MS Windows 10 update must have started this problem.
