Indeed, that is what I have been having to with the models that don't import correctly. But i've been having to eye ball the materials to get them right.
This is definitely not ideal though, when I'm spending money on a high quality stock, I would like not have to spend the time to redo the materials. Say a stock model like this one for example. If the textured don't import right. I'll spend HOURS to remap and to them myself: I'm sure it varies from stock model to stock model as to how they exported the model, some may import fine and some may not. I'm just trying to optimize my workflow and find the best options available to use the tools. One thing I will when buying stock is look for more models that have C4D files available.
Any further advice on similar import/export issues is greatly appreciated. There's a note on the page for that model which says Vray is required. That will have a bearing on the.3DS and.MAX files (although.MAX can only be opened by MAX itself). Even if you have VrayforC4D it's unlikely that the Vray materials would come into Cinema intact. It's possible that the Vray requirement doesn't apply to the OBJ version since the format carries relatively restricted material descriptions, however it may still be affecting the makeup of the.MTL file. Could you post the.MTL file from the OBJ archive here (definitely not the maps or the mesh, just the.MTL text file itself).

Mark edit: typo. Loading those textures manually can be a royal pain. I've been having similar problems with imported content. Pixelview playtv mpeg 8000gt driver windows 7 download. Assuming that 2D textures and not just VRay materials are included (I don't know anything about how they work with 3ds models), maybe you can try the following.
As far as the 3ds version is concerned this should work. It will not work for the obj version. Like 3d Kiwi said, you'll need a plugin like Riptide pro for obj files, or load the textures manually. First of all make sure that the 3ds file and the textures are located in the same folder. Open Cinema and, instead of just trying to open or import the model immediately, save your Cinema file (temporarily) into the same folder that contains the 3ds file and the textures. After doing that, when you bring the 3ds model into Cinema (e.g. By going to the Object Manager, File - Merge Objects) the 3ds model should load including all the textures.
