Hello, I have 2 parts to this inquiry: 1) Please tell me WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM MEMORY CAPACITY this Gateway ESX 500S Desktop unit IS CAPABLE OF SAFELY TAKING?? >>There are only 2 memory slots available in the CPU & I'm just curious if one or both of those slots could hold a 1gig of PC2100. (it says it needs 15% to defrag, and I currently only have 3% of free space available. This will remove temporary internet files, temp files, and other files you don't need. To do this, right-click on the C: drive in My computer, select properties, then click the 'Disk Cleanup' button. If you haven't ever done this, there's a good chance you have a lot of clutter on your hard drive you don't need. You should also see if there are programs you can uninstall that you don't need. As far as RAM capacity, that model can go up to 1GB of RAM total (2x512MB DIMMs.). 1) If you are out of RAM at 512MB, then you got too many programs running in the background.

You need to disable programs in your Startup. You probably have tons of spyware programs running too. WinXP will even run on a 128MB. The fact that you do not have 15% free on 1GB is scary.

2) 500S is not a valid model number. Go to Gateway's Support web site and look up the specs for your computer.
